Read Some FAQs About Our Handrails and Stairs

I would like to buy new stairs and / or handrails. Where do I start?
Stop by our showroom in Medford, NY with photos and dimensions of the existing staircase and railings. At that time you will select materials and profiles from our many different styles on display. We will then work up an estimate of cost.

Are you open to the public? 
Yes, we sell directly to the public in addition to working with contractors, builders, architects, and designers. 

What counties on Long Island do you serve? 
We are fully licensed and insured to do work in Nassau and Suffolk counties. 

Do I need to get new stairs if I only want to change the railings? 
No, in most residential homes we are able to install railings on the existing stairs.

My steps are old or a builder’s grade pine. Do you offer a product to cover my old steps? 
Yes, we offer a tread cover that sits on top of the existing tread. Available with mitered tread returns and we can make custom pieces to fit over your round starting steps. Tread covers are available in many different wood types. 

I need new stairs, but they won’t fit in my house? 
We offer a knocked downstair to be built on site.
 
Do you warranty your installation work? 
Yes, we offer a one-year limited WARRANTY on handrails installed by H.B. Millwork within one-year from installation date. 

Do any of your items come pre-finished? 
The items we manufacture do not come pre-finished. If H.B. Millwork installs your handrail, all parts are sanded and ready for finishing. Our office does recommend professional finishers and painters upon request. 

I’d like to have someone else do my installation. Can you sell materials only? 
Yes, H.B. Millwork can install your new handrail system by our own craftsmen or you can purchase the parts from us and install yourself. Most materials are in stock or take a few days to come in. 

What if I want something different than your stock items? 
H.B. Millwork can create custom profiles of moldings, balusters, newels, handrails, etc. We are a custom mill shop, specializing in restoration work and one-of-a-kind designs.

Are you able to produce cad drawings? 
Yes, we do have a design department that works with AutoCAD software.

Do you carry moldings in stock? 
Yes, H.B. Millwork carries pre-primed and unfinished moldings in poplar, pine, red oak, maple. Most pre-primed styles available up to 16’ lengths.

We offer one-year limited WARRANTY on handrail installations for a year from the date of installation.
